Get ready to be irradiated when Fallout-like MMO PIONER launches this December

When you think of MMOs, you usually go to the likes of World of Warcraft, OSRS, or Star Wars: The Old Republic, which almost allow you to sit back in your chair and enjoy the ride.

PIONER, on the other hand, is very much not that. It brings a post-apocalyptic Fallout-like world that you’ll need to be on the edge of your seat for, otherwise you might just succumb to the many irradiated threats out there.

If you got into the recent beta, you will have experienced this for yourself but if you missed out you’re in luck, with GFAGAMES announcing that the PIONER release date is just around the corner.

What is the PIONER release date?

As previously mentioned, PIONER just went through a beta that allowed GFAGAMES to test the servers, core game mechanics, and more.

It’s only been a little over a week since that subsided, and we already have a release date for the game, albeit in early access form.

PIONER will launch in early access on December 16, 2025 via Steam. Unfortunately, despite the game coming to both PlayStation and Xbox as well, there has been no official announcement on whether we’ll see PIONER early access on there too.

There has been no word on when the full 1.0 release will be for PIONER but this will likely be down to how well early access goes, and how many bugs need to be squashed in the process.

Can you preorder PIONER?

At the time of writing, there is no preorder function available on Steam, simply a Wishlist function that will let you know when the game goes live.

The official website for the game does state that there will also be a Deluxe Edition which can be purchased “at launch,” offering you additional cosmetics for your character right out of the gate.
