Arc Raiders is still going strong despite the game being out for a number of months now. With Marathon just around the corner, it’s likely that Embark Studios is hoping additional updates will keep enough of the population around to keep Speranza buzzing.

February 24 will bring the Shrouded Sky update and with it a brand new map condition that will literally blow you away.

This is aptly named Hurricane, which isn’t only bringing winds but also potential extra looting opportunities.

How does the Hurricane map condition work in Arc Raiders’ Shrouded Sky update?

With Hurricanes, naturally, wind is the big factor, and in Arc Raiders, this is no different.

Tailwinds will make you feel fast and nimble, but pushing against the gales will slow you down and drain stamina quickly. This will certainly make fights a little more interesting, especially against the big Arc, which require you to do a bit of ducking and diving to avoid being downed.

Throwables also get weird, so if you’re used to yeeting grenades aplenty, you may need a few runs before you stop sailing them into the aether. To compound this, the actual smoke and gas are impacted by the storm’s power, potentially making for some different plays.

However, as previously mentioned, this Hurricane map condition isn’t just about the wind.

The Hurricane also kicks up dirt and small objects that will glitch and spark your shield, degrading it out in the open, and making you more visible to rival Raiders. In other words, you’ll have to decide whether being outside is actually worth it since you’ll be emitting blue light for all to see.

Low clouds also make Topside “almost unrecognisable,” so Arc can become an unwelcome surprise fast. You’ll want to keep a keen ear out through the wind to ensure you don’t get snuck up on.

And finally, there are additional looting opportunities in the form of First Wave Caches. There’s a suggestion from Embark that these are extremely valuable Raider Caches, meaning if you can survive the elements, beat the Arc, and outsmart other players, you might walk away with something extra juicy for your Stash.
