Arc Raiders introduces duo matchmaking after community demand
When you look at the sheer number of people playing Arc Raiders, you know that there has been some serious polish put on the game from Embark Studios, otherwise, those numbers would be dwindling rapidly.
While the vast majority of players have very minimal gripes with the game, the fact that there has been no duos queue has been a big request from the community. Embark has listened, and it’s been thrown in.
Arc Raiders now has a duo queue
The reason why so many were vocal about a duo queue is that if you want to play with a friend but don’t have a trio, you would be entered into trio matches. This meant you would constantly be outnumbered in raider vs raider fights, almost always losing out due to the number advantage of the opposition.
Thankfully, this has all changed with the devs enabling “duo prioritized matchmaking.” It was actually silently being tested for a couple of days before the full launch just to make sure things were running smoothly, and it seems to be implemented exceptionally, just like how the whole game has been delivered so far.
📡 The dust never settles out here.
Duo matchmaking is now live! 🤝
We hear you, Raiders – being consistently outgunned isn't great for morale, and it's worse for your loot.
We're now prioritizing pairing duos with duos for a fairer fight topside.

What this now means is that you should be significantly less scared about running into a full squad as a pair, almost ensuring battles are fair, even if they all have Venators. Well, apart from if a Rocketeer or Bastion gets involved in the action.
How does Arc Raiders duo matchmaking work?
Arc Raiders’ new duo queue slots into matchmaking with a simple but effective priority system.
The way it works is by first trying to keep solos and full squads in their own lanes, then pairs duos with other duos, and trios with trios. However, something to note is that it’s a preference, not a 100% certainty, so on occasion you may still drop into lobbies with mixed team sizes.
With hundreds of thousands still playing Arc Raiders, it’s likely at this time that duo matchmaking should be flawless for most. However, if there becomes a point where that number starts to trend downward, you could see raids with mixes of duos and trios more frequently.
