The Witcher 3 just became a co-op RPG, thanks to this mod
When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launched way back in 2015, it spawned conversations of if it may be the greatest single-player RPG ever made.
Now, though, if you’ve ever thought that it would be better enjoyed with fellow Witchers, your wish has been granted, over 10 years later.
This is all thanks to a clever mod that allows for co-op play to become a reality, meaning you can get it installed yourself and enjoy the lush landscapes with others.
The Witcher 3 is now multiplayer with Witcher Online mod
The Witcher Online mod does exactly what it says on the tin, really—allows you to set up an online server so that others can join your The Witcher 3 game and start exploring together. You can literally play through the whole story if you wish, which is a big undertaking, so maybe multiple play sessions will be required for that one…
What’s more, Witcher Online also supports both the Custom Player Characters and Chill Out mods, meaning it’s not just a bunch of Geralts fighting over which one is the true Witcher, and you can sit back and enjoy some Tavern ambience.
Sadly, Gwent is something that can’t be cracked into, so you will have to keep those card-playing skills to yourself and just take every NPC’s Crowns instead, or simply save yourself for The Witcher 4.
To get this going, all you will need to do is head over to Nexus Mods and download/install the Witcher Online mod. There’s a whole set of instructions there so you don’t get tangled in moving this folder here and installing this other thing there.
The only real annoyance with getting it going is that you will need to have the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt installed. You probably already have this if you’re a fan of the game anyway, since it’s the definitive version of the experience, but something to keep in mind for others who may be trying to access the mod.
