Pragmatic Play has added another entry to its arcade-style catalogue, but this one leans heavily into nostalgia, with its Frogger-like nature.

Chicken+ changes the standard reels and paylines for something a bit more immediate, dropping you into an 8-bit world where it’s all about quick decisions rather than long-term, lengthy setups.

What you need to do is guide a chicken across a busy highway without getting flattened. Each successful crossing pushes your multiplier higher, and you can cash out whenever you feel the time is right.

Keep going, though, and the potential rewards ramp up, but obviously so does the risk since one misstep means you’re done.

Risk vs reward is the whole game

Chicken+ is very transparent about the risk. Before each move, you’re able to see both the potential return and the percentage chance of success, giving you just enough information to second-guess yourself every step of the way.

There are four difficulty settings to choose from; Easy, Mid, Hard, and Daredevil, and they do change how the game plays quite a lot.

Lower tiers offer more forgiving runs with modest payouts, while the higher-end options crank up the volatility. Daredevil mode, however, is naturally where things get wild, with fewer lanes but a theoretical win ceiling that stretches into the millions.

As previously mentioned, there’s no slow build here. Rounds are over in seconds, making it easy to jump in and out, or chain attempts together if you’re chasing a bigger multiplier.

Visually, the retro presentation does exactly what it needs to with chunky pixels, simple animations, and a clean interface keep everything readable, even as the tension ramps up.

Overall, Chicken+ strips things back to the single idea of risk versus reward, offering a game that’s easy to understand but it actually surprisingly tough to walk away from once you’ve started pushing your luck.
