Metroid Prime 4 can be unforgiving, so here’s how to save between battles

Metroid games not only offer up tricky boss fights but also winding paths that you can sometimes get lost in.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is definitely an example of this, and knowing how to save your progress before taking on the next part of your adventure could be crucial.

Here’s what you need to do to get your Prime 4 progress banked.

How to save in Metroid Prime 4

Usually in games, there’s a save function in the pause menu that you can utilize to store your progress, ready for the next time you boot up the game.

Metroid Prime 4, though, does not have this, and instead, you will have to manually locate Save Stations on your travels. They are sometimes difficult to find and are not exactly abundant, so take advantage of them when you can.

These Save Stations are scattered throughout regions but are usually either in the interiors or behind specific ‘doors’ that can only be opened using specific psychic abilities, meaning if you don’t have that ability yet, it will be locked.

Once you locate one, all you have to do is walk onto the golden pad, which will prompt you with a save option while also refilling health and ammo.

After finding and/or using a Save Station, it will be marked on your map with the icon shown below. This makes things far easier when you’re backtracking or simply want to get a save done quickly.

But what about autosave?

There is an autosave function in Metroid Prime 4, but this only happens very sporadically, mainly when you are traveling between large regions. As an example, you will get an autosave when heading back to Sol Valley, or when you finish ‘big’ segments.

Even though this function exists, if you’re going for a 100% run, you will want to utilize those aforementioned Save Stations to ensure you secure all the possible scans before you’re locked out of them forever.
