how long to beat death stranding 2

When you think of Hideo Kojima titles, you instantly go to pretty visuals, wacky story arcs, and incredibly long cutscenes that may have you rooted to your seat for some time.

Death Stranding 2 definitely has all of the above, so if you’re wondering how long it’s going to take to beat the game, it is not a silly question in the slightest.

Below, we’ll dive into how long Death Stranding 2 is, both with and without cutscenes, so you know if it’s going to take over your life for a good while.

Death Stranding 2 game length: How long does it take to beat?

The first Death Stranding was a pretty meaty title that required you to put approximately 40 hours in to beat the main story. However, it probably took you a little longer than this if you went in completely blind, since the genre is a little different, and you can play around building different structures.

As for Death Stranding 2, it actually closely follows suit to that of its predecessor, coming out at 38-45 hours if you’re a pretty competent gamer.

This figure does drop by quite a bit if you do choose to skip cutscenes, potentially getting it to 30 hours, or below if you’re blasting through deliveries as fast as possible. You just won’t get the interesting story beats if you do this, though, which is what you want when you play a game like this.

Something to note is that the above times are just for wrapping up the main story, with very minimal side quests completed or exploring off the beaten path.

If you are looking for a more completionist playthrough, this could be between 70-100 hours, depending on how close to that 100% you want to get to, essentially doubling the time to roll credits.

Also, if you’re jumping in on PC or Steam Deck, everything we’ve mentioned could also vary a little, especially if you’re transitioning from controller over to mouse and keyboard.
