Does Windrose have PvP, or is it PvE only?
When you think of pirates, you automatically go to plundering treasure, whether that be digging up chests or stealing it from other crews.
Windrose enables you to truly embody this experience, but many are rightly questioning whether you’re able to nab other real players’ loot, akin to Sea of Thieves, or if it’s PvE only.
Let’s dig into whether you’re able to get up to some shenanigans against others online in Windrose, so you know what you’re up against on the high seas.
Does Windrose have PvP?
If you’re looking to take on other player-controlled pirate crews in a battle for the high seas, sadly, Windrose will not be the game for you.
This is because the game is PvE only and will likely remain this way for some time.
Windrose did actually start off as a full MMO-like pirate experience when it was initially being developed by Windrose Crew, but it morphed into the PvE survival title as things progressed.
While you might be saddened to hear this, it does still have some multiplayer elements.
There’s a full co-op system, allowing you and others to go wild, hopefully enduring the elements, securing enough resources to build a huge base in the process.
Even though this isn’t a substitute for destroying other players’ ships online, at least you are still able to share a save with a crew and sing some shanties together.
With all this being said, if the community demand is there for Windrose PvP and the devs have enough time to implement it, there’s nothing to say that it won’t become an optional part of the game in the future.
It certainly won’t be in Early Access, and probably not in 1.0 either, but if you like the core mechanics enough, it might be worth holding out for.
