dispatch switch censorship adhoc statement

Nearly a week on from Dispatch’s release on Switch, and it seems like we might have come to an impasse on the censorship controversy

If you have been living under a rock, the issue stems from the fact that nudity and swearing have been completely censored from the Switch version of the game.

While PlayStation and PC players were offered the option of censoring any nudity in the form of a setting, Switch 1 and 2 players will not receive that option.

The storyline has not been impacted by the censorship, just the nudity and swearing are covered up in the form of a black bar, like it were a redacted part of investigation files.

This has led to many fans feeling furious after they were not notified by this permanent censorship until the game was released on the Switch consoles on January 28

AdHoc’s latest response seemingly shuts down any potential new editions

After a series of back-and-forth statements by developer AdHoc Studio and gaming giant Nintendo, AdHoc looks to close the matter for good.

In a statement to GoNintendo, the developer claimed that it is “unable to provide further comment on why separate SKUs were not possible for different regions.”

After initially pointing the blame towards Nintendo, it sounds like AdHoc simply wants this to be over with. It may be a case of it being a simple oversight on its behalf and now doesn’t want to comment, rather than being unable to comment.

The latest quote also validates a popular theory even more. This states that AdHoc Studio only developed a Japanese version of the game on Switch, meaning that the frequent nudity that is present in the title would not have passed the country’s censorship laws.

This is backed up by a Reddit post that displayed that the Japanese version of the game was made available on PS5, the same day that the Switch versions were released.
