Chromatic Memories: Paint Your Past on Steam Next Fest
The visual novel Chromatic Memories from Spanish indie studio Perla Oculta is now offering a demo on the Steam Next Fest. The game, set in the Canary Islands during the early 2000s, introduces a world where technology has made it possible to alter people's memories. These memory painters can access and change or even erase people's recollections. Chromatic Memories is set to be released on Steam on June 19.
In Chromatic Memories, players will step into the shoes of Nayara, a painter of memories who discovers she has been erasing her own past. Nayara embarks on a journey to uncover what she was trying to hide, diving deep into her past and gathering information to solve the mystery. Players will navigate through Nayara's memories, talk to people from her past, and put together pieces of information to unlock new steps in her investigation. Check out the game trailer here:
The game features an alternate version of the Canary Islands and allows players to navigate their own memories. Players can gain new pigments as they advance in the investigation, use these pigments in minigames to craft new colors, and use these colors in their investigation. They can even search for old phone numbers from the past to reconnect with lost friends and discover new details about Nayara’s life and world. The game boasts an eye-catching Fauvist art style, inspired by avant-garde artists from the early 20th century.
