Scholar Adventure: Mystery of Silence

There’s a new point-and-click adventure coming to PC before the end of the year, published by veteran studio DevilishGames, which looks like it may be worth taking notice of. Scholar Adventure: Mystery of Silence is being billed as a “haunting graphic adventure” that will transport players to a mysterious abbey where nothing is as it seems.

So far, so creepy. Our star is William, a young writer (we all were once, but it seems an awfully long time ago!) searching for inspiration for his first novel. Creepy Abbey. That should do it.

His journey takes him to this remote abbey whose monks have taken a vow of silence. What begins as a simple literary quest soon turns into a chilling enigma: within its walls lies a secret that should never have been uncovered

Scholar Adventure: Mystery of Silence is the first installment in the new Scholar Adventure saga, so we can expect more games to follow down the road from this one.

Programmed using PowerQuest, the same system used to power the excellent The Drifter recently, this looks like it may be on the short side, with the information we have saying, “Players will explore atmospheric environments, solve environmental puzzles, and use the objects they find along the way to uncover the abbey’s hidden secrets. The experience will have an approximate duration of two hours and is designed as a tribute to the classics of the genre, focusing on exploration, puzzle-solving, and narrative immersion. A demo version of the game will be available during the Steam Next Fest in October.”

So with a game that lasts two hours, it will be interesting to see how much is given away in the demo in October, but the video above certainly has us interested at this stage.
