Marty McFly voice actor returns to adventure games in Foolish Mortals
We’ve long been seeking out an adventure game that harks back to those halcyon days of class point and clickers, and while this new effort from Inklingwood Studios may not turn out to be exactly that, it has enough about it to get us excited even at this early stage.
Foolish Mortals is a full-length point & click adventure game set in the moody and mysterious world of 1930s Louisiana. Taking the role of a young treasure hunter arriving on the island of Devil’s Rock, the player is in search of the lost treasure of Bellemore Manor, where thirty years before an entire wedding suddenly and mysteriously vanished. With a plethora of puzzles spanning more than 75 meticulously hand-drawn backgrounds, players are sure to get fully immersed in this ghostly world of the merry and the macabre.
Adventure game fans will recognize AJ LoCascio from his breakout performance as Marty McFly in Back to the Future: The Game by Telltale Games. Since then, AJ has lent his voice to a range of iconic characters, including Han Solo (LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga), Gambit (X-Men ’97), Prince Lotor (Voltron: Legendary Defender), Gizmo (Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai), Owen Grady (Jurassic World Evolution), Emmet Brickowski (The LEGO Movie 4D: A New Adventure), Henry (Country Bear Musical Jamboree at Walt Disney World Resort), and Figment (Disney Speedstorm).
Basically, anybody who has played Gizmo is alright by me.
In fact, the voice cast is pretty stellar all around, and AJ LoCascio is joined by a large cast of experienced and talented actors, many of whom have featured in recent adventure games.
Voice direction and production were handled by The Game Editors, a boutique consulting studio helmed by Jess Haskins and Francisco González, bringing years of experience from their own adventure games, including A Golden Wake, Shardlight, Lamplight City, and, most recently, the critically acclaimed Rosewater. Thanks to their expertise, Foolish Mortals has been officially approved as a Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) project.
Foolish Mortals is set for release in late 2025, and is available to wishlist now on Steam.
