Lunar Strike: The race to preserve humanity’s legacy has started
Independent studio, Cognition Europe, has today announced its debut title, Lunar Strike, a sci-fi narrative adventure and exploration game set on the hostile environment of the Moon’s south pole. Set for a launch in 2026, the game, announced at Gamescom 2025, is set at the Earth’s final lunar colony in 2119, and things are going badly!
Lunar Strike blends speculative fiction with a game world grounded in hard science – including orbital dynamics and applied astrophysics – and ethical decision making, as players try to archive humanity’s scientific and cultural legacy before it’s lost forever.
What takes Lunar Strike away from the general type of this kind os sci-fi game is the complete lack of any combat and its reliance on puzzle-solving adventure game mechanics. The pressure and stress in the game is the cerebral kind, rather than you needing the twitch-reactions of a particularly handy ninja.[
Developed with ethical questions of legacy, memory, and responsibility at its heart, players will face increasingly difficult challenges to build and preserve the archive, with multiple outcomes driven by their decisions and values.
