Fighting Fantasy classic Crypt of the Sorcerer arrives today
Back in the mid-eighties, I was obsessed as a kid by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone’s Fighting Fantasy Adventure books. I have tried several times to get my kids to have a crack at The Warlock of Firetop Mountain and the likes, and they look at me like I have lost my mind.
I have never lost the love for them, I still have a signed first edition of Warlock and Starship Traveller on myself and they are treasured for memories. These days, of course, many of the great books have been re-imagined in digital form and are available via the Fighting Fantasy app on Steam, which acts as a hub for digital purchases of the books themselves that you can now play on your PC.
Today, sees the latest arrival to the digital library, Crypt of the Sorcerer – originally published in 1987 and written by Ian Livingstone, who, of course, went on to forge himself a very respectable career in the games industry in later years.
This digital release is the 20th title in the ever-expanding Fighting Fantasy Classics collection, which already features iconic books like Deathtrap Dungeon, Creature of Havoc, and City of Thieves, alongside modern releases such as Assassins of Allansia and The Port of Peril.
This particular title is known for its brutal difficulty and lots of instant deaths, so tread carefully out there in that dungeon.
Crypt of the Sorcerer is available to buy within the free-to-download Fighting Fantasy Classics app for $3.99 USD.
