All upcoming Bethesda games: The Elder Scrolls 6 to the next mainline Fallout entry
Bethesda is one of the most highly acclaimed studios for its work on Skyrim, Fallout, Dishonored, and most recently, DOOM: The Dark Ages. There are some big Bethesda games in the pipeline to look forward to, even if the wait is longer than anyone would want.
We’ve broken down all the details that are known so far about all Bethesda games that have been confirmed or are already in active development. Although we’ve mainly stuck to the information that’s officially been announced about each title, there is some speculation used as context.
Marvel’s Blade
It was announced in December 2023 that Arkane Lyon, the studio behind DEATHLOOP and the Dishonored series, along with Bethesda and Marvel Games, had just started the development of Marvel’s Blade. This upcoming Bethesda game is third-person and will portray a mature original story that weighs heavily on immersion and story-rich gameplay.
Marvel’s Blade is expected to take players to a quarantined section of Paris, right in the depths of a supernatural emergency. Vampires have arrived in the French city, causing a deadly threat that forces residents to shelter inside their homes at night until it’s safe to emerge at sunrise. A Marvel’s Blade reveal trailer, which was shown off at The Game Awards back in 2023, gave fans a first glimpse at this Bethesda video game.
An announcement plays on the Parisian streets warning that the sun is setting. After gunfire and the sounds of sirens blaring, Blade suits up with his signature sword to get involved in the action. Blade appears to be relaxed and already familiar with the disaster he’s surrounded by, suggesting that players will be thrown straight into the middle of the action.
Blade is also known as a Daywalker because he is a vampire hybrid, meaning, unlike other vampires, he is able to be out in the daylight, proving to be an advantage when he is hunting hostile vampires. Due to the switch to nighttime that happens in the announcement trailer and subsequent concept images of this upcoming Bethesda game showing Blade out in the city, both before sunset and during the night, Marvel’s Blade could play on a day and night cycle that allows for the city to be experienced in different ways.
Since no details have emerged about the title since 2023, the Marvel’s Blade release date and platforms are still unknown. Marvel video games are in an interesting spot when it comes to platforms. Both Marvel Spider-Man entries by Insomniac Games were PlayStation exclusives before making the jump to PC, while Marvel’s Wolverine, launching in 2026, will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls will only be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Since Bethesda and Arkane Lyon fall under Xbox’s umbrella, Marvel’s Blade could end up being on the list of Bethesda games that are Xbox exclusive, potentially seeing the team in green getting their foot in the door when it comes to modern Marvel games.
The Elder Scrolls 6
It’s been so long since we’ve got some Bethesda Games news about The Elder Scrolls 6 that E3 still existed back when the announcement trailer was unveiled at the now-defunct showcase in 2018. The 36-second The Elder Scrolls 6 trailer was the first and last time fans have been treated to a look at the game.
All that’s known about the upcoming Bethesda game that is The Elder Scrolls 6, is that it’s built on Creation Engine 2, the same engine as Starfield. In addition, YouTuber known as “Skyrim Grandma” will be an NPC, and late community member, Loranna Pyrel, will be commemorated as an in-game character.
A post on the official Bethesda Games X account in March 2024 marked the 30th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls, where the team said:
“Yes, we are in development on the next chapter – The Elder Scrolls VI. Even now, returning to Tamriel and playing early builds has us filled with the same joy, excitement, and promise of adventure.”
More recently, the official Xbox X account sent The Elder Scrolls 6 community into a frenzy after responding to a tweet about the upcoming Xbox developer direct, with Xbox stating that it’s a “big year for games ending in 6, though.” Xbox has already revealed Forza Horizon 6, and of course, GTA 6 is slated for a 2026 release. It’s highly unlikely The Elder Scrolls 6 will release anytime soon, but Xbox could be hinting that more information on this upcoming Bethesda game could be on the way.
Fallout 5
If you thought The Elder Scrolls 6 was a long way off, it’s bad news for Fallout fans. Bethesda doesn’t plan on even making Fallout 5 until The Elder Scrolls 6 has shipped, so its addition to the existing list of Bethesda games is still far off.
In 2021, Bethesda revealed they had a one-pager for Fallout 5. Usually, this refers to a brief plan that could include an overview of Bethesda’s new game in terms of a potential narrative plot, characters, gameplay features, and the like. Past Fallout games have taken place in a post-apocalyptic America, and its main themes are tied to the USA, so Fallout 5 could continue with this setting.
Not only is Fallout one of the biggest Bethesda video game franchises, but the success of the Fallout TV series has only seen its popularity grow. The show returned with Season 2 on December 17, with episodes rolling out until February 2026. Season 3 is already being written, and it will be interesting to see if elements of Fallout 5 will reflect the rapidly advancing TV series to keep the universe consistent.
Elsewhere at Bethesda
Between major releases, a studio as big as Bethesda is expected to have a hand in the creation of other games, some of which have been speculated on. However, all that has been revealed for certain is that some of the best Bethesda games will get a Nintendo Switch 2 port.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, which was first released in December 2024, already has a store page on the Nintendo Switch eShop, indicating a 2026 release. Also, the Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition that launched on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles at the end of 2025 will roll out on the Switch 2 in 2026.
