Although Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2) is getting close to seven years since its original release, it continues to be a title that many players keep revisiting, its gameplay loop and riveting main story being compelling reasons to do so. It has earned its place among the most expensive video games ever made, but Rockstar Games is sure to look at that money as well-spent considering the game’s success over the years.

Speaking of money, there’s a lot to spend your in-game cash on in RDR2. But how do you make that money? Although there’s a ton of side content that you can engage with, the saloons that you find in most towns you visit are a great place to earn some extra cash if things are tight. RDR2 gambling lets you kick back a little while ensuring a healthy cash flow for Arthur Morgan.

You can play Poker, Blackjack, and a very exciting, albeit dangerous, game called Five-Fingered Fillet in RDR2. If you’re wondering where (and how) to get started, we’ve got your back.

RDR2 features Poker as a minigame, allowing Arthur to indulge in a few hands of Texas Hold’ Em at various locations throughout the game. If you’re wondering where to play Poker in RDR2, you should visit the locations listed below:

Location Buy-In Where To Find
Valentine $2.50 Found during the main story, at the center of the map.
Blackwater $5.00 South of the map, watch out for the bounty. Best visited after completing the main story.
Saint Denis $5.00 Bottom right of the map, part of the story. High Stakes table.
Tumbleweed $2.50 The far left of the map can be accessed only after completing the main story.
Flatneck Station $2.50 Story Quest ‘Who Is Not Without Sin’, east of Bard’s Crossing. Unlocks all other poker minigames.
Campsite (occasional) $1.00 Play members of your gang from time to time.

As you can see, Valentine and Flatneck Station are the most accessible among all the RDR2 poker locations, with Saint Denis being the next one you should prioritize. Blackwater and Tumbleweed are best left for a time after you manage to lift the bounties on Arthur and his crew.

If you’re wondering how to win Poker in RDR2, it’s a matter of ensuring you have a hand stronger than the rest of your opponents at the table. Poker isn’t merely a game of luck, and requires that you keep your opponents on their toes, either by bluffing your way through a hand, or using brute force to bully opponents into folding their cards if you have the cash for a few big bets.

Remember, you’re playing the people, not the cards. However, Poker in RDR2 does come with a few limitations, considering that digitally rendered opponents don’t really have emotions for you to read. Use your knowledge of the best hands you can have, with a basic thumb rule being to bet only when you have a fairly strong hand.

When you do have one, start with smaller bets and gradually ramp them up with each card that’s revealed on the table. That lets you back out of a bet in case there’s a risk of your opponents having a stronger hand. Always be on the lookout for potential straights or flushes, and never bet on those until you actually have them.

That’s especially true for RDR2 High Stakes Poker matches, some of which are even a part of the story. Be prudent with your bets, and you should do all right.
