Fate Architect is the next roguelike deckbuilder that allows you to select and modify symbols on a slot machine to earn as many points as possible. If the Fate Architect demo is anything to go by, there are going to be almost endless ways of reaching your goals due to the number of symbols provided and opportunities for varied strategies with every run.

We’ve got a rundown on what you can expect from the Fate Architect gameplay loop, so you can construct the slot machine based around your playstyle and chase those big numbers, and more importantly, those big wins.

What is Fate Architect?

Your journey to building the best Fate Architect roguelike slot machine starts with six randomly assigned symbols. Each symbol either offers points, a multiplier, or both. There are 15 levels to work through in the demo, and progression requires you to hit a set score in an assigned number of spins, with the score requirement increasing with every level. Simply hit “spin,” and each line on the board will move like a slot machine, and the symbols will deploy their points and multiplier into your points tally.

After every spin, you will have the opportunity to snag more symbols. The more symbols, the more opportunity to earn points and the greater the chance of the symbols connecting and racking up high multipliers. However, the symbols you can add to your machine also wield abilities that add an extra layer to your strategy.

The Samurai symbol, for example, contributes +4 score and +4 multiplier, while destroying adjacent Samurai to steal their score. That’s not all, though, as each symbol is also categorized by its color, if it’s an animal, fruit, gem, insect, instrument, music, plant, or humanoid. The Green Egg symbol, for instance, transforms into a random green symbol after three spins, while the Whale symbol upgrades itself with +1 score and +1 multiplier if it’s adjacent to three other blue symbols.

Forming your bag of symbols around a certain category or two can be a viable way to approach Fate Architect, as symbols such as the Frog earn +5 score and +5 multiplier if the most common tag in your bag is green symbols.

With the sheer amount of symbols available to choose from, clicking on your bag to view your bag overview is your friend during your time with the Fate Architect gameplay. This shows how many symbols you have belonging to each category and allows you to duplicate your chosen symbol or remove symbols entirely.

Once you clear a level, you can select a talisman that acts as a perk to accompany you through your Fate Architect roguelike run. It’s possible to have six talismans at once during a run. The talisman perks have diverse uses, from the Lever adding an extra spin to the Copycat that sees all talismans you own trigger their abilities twice.

The end goal of the Fate Architect game is to complete all 15 levels by evolving symbols and creating the most powerful slot machine possible to meet or even exceed point targets.

Who is the developer of Fate Architect?

The Fate Architect developer goes by the name of SadOnionDev, who also released another roguelike on Steam in 2024 known as Deeper Than Hell. This is an action multiplayer roguelike that takes a darker twist than Fate Architect as you go to the depths of hell in search of treasure. However, Deeper Than Hell still requires synergy building to become stronger and overcome opponents.

When will Fate Architect be released?

The Fate Architect release date is May 1, 2026. At launch, it will be playable on PC via Steam and Itch.io.

The demo is available on both platforms for those who want to take this slot machine for a spin before the game fully makes its debut.

Despite the Fate Architect demo only featuring one difficulty level, there are 117 symbols and 41 talismans to experiment with. A singular playthrough takes approximately 20 minutes, but there’s a great amount of replayability on show. The full game is thought to have 13 difficulty levels, over 200 symbols, and in excess of 80 talismans.

The hardest difficulty level is fittingly named The Torment and is expected to have extremely challenging point requirements, dynamite added to your bag as a setback at Level 5, two permanently empty slots, fewer refresh token rewards, and one talisman slot remains inactive.

Are there any other roguelike slot machine games?

Another roguelike slot machine game that shares similarities with Fate Architect gameplay is CloverPit. Drawing on elements of psychological horror, CloverPit locks you in a cell with nothing but a slot machine, an ATM, and a store containing rotating charms.

You must pay off your debts to a mysterious captor using winnings from the slot machine, but to reach the ever-increasing monetary figure, you’ll need to manipulate the machine and its symbols to hit big. Instead of talismans, CloverPit features charms that are purchased with tickets and act as permanent upgrades to better your luck.

In November 2025, CloverPit received a Hard mode update as the most challenging way to escape hell.
